I've been away from creative writing for awhile, having put my time into another realm ... and because I used to write to heal myself, and then somehow I felt more whole and the need diminished. I stay connected, however, in some peripheral ways. This blog came to me in the midst of a day with more questions than answers. And tugs at my heart for those soulful moments of bliss when the words flow and the connection is strong and what must be expressed streams forth. The Irish have a phrase, "Take the time ..." Simple enough, it means to start a thing by taking the time to listen, to breathe, to share, to connect, to remember what is important in that moment is not the "business" that might bring you to that place but the "life" that shimmers within it. To be present to magic of a moment and to also be committed to a writing practice seems like an evolving act of discernment.

I am considering an addition to my Bliss Station, perhaps it's not an actual place to write in, but a vessel of possibility, connecting to all things. In fact I believe it's an orbiting substation of creative energy that springs from our actual lives.

I was visiting my aging Mother and Father-in law, in what used to be called The Old Age Home, when I shifted from my fidgety state of mind. (Do they serve martinis in the dining room? How long before we can leave this strange and frightening place? ) I began to notice things, the quality of light in their shuttered apartment, the stillness of the warm air and the ribbon-like curve of time, twisting back on itself, looping unpredictably, as we struggled to communicate. I realized: this IS a Bliss Station. Right here now. And I began to write a poem in my head.

Thanks, Tiffany. I've seen my Bliss Space change a lot over the years in terms of both time and place, and now it is working well enough that I've drafted a poem a day since January 6. A lot of those may go into the fire, but i am writing every day now, regardless of where i am. keep on keepin' on, girl. All best, Terry
